Engineering and Management/ International Management (B.Sc.)

More and more companies are going international. Germany ranks among the countries with the strongest international business link. Not only large companies have a high export share, but also small and medium-sized enterprises. Therefore, there is a steady demand for high-level personnel with a profound economics and technical understanding and core competences in international management. Internationally trained industrial engineers have the benefit of having enjoyed an international and interdisciplinary education that provides them with all the skills and competences needed in their professional life and, therefore, can work in almost all departments of a company. They have key liaison functions between technology, business and cultures in sales, procurement, production and logistics, as well as in product development or management.

Study Program Overview

Engineering and Management/ International Management is the study program in Germany that integrates economics, engineering and international management competences. In addition to the classical course content in industrial engineering, i.e. apart from the scientific and technical expertise, you acquire intercultural and international management skills tailored to meet the challenges of an international work environment. The high numbers of courses offered in English, which is approx. 40%, also equips you with the needed competences.

Whilst working on the course-specific competence goal "International Management Competence in Engineering and Management" you have an opportunity to complete your internship abroad or/and extend your international experience by spending a semester at one of our partner universities through the study abroad program. You will benefit from the close cooperation between Pforzheim University and numerous renowned partner universities and colleges abroad. This program carries an international accreditation by AACSB, which is a quality seal that opens doors to the best business schools worldwide.

The lectures and projects in the program focus on technical and methodological competences that are needed to plan and implement business processes, to organize technical sales and purchases, and to work with international teams. Besides, you learn project management, management skills and presentation techniques as well as time and conflict management. Another benefit of this program is the possibility of attaining a double degree, if you meet the requirements during your study. In order to achieve two degrees at the same time, you have to complete two mandatory semesters abroad, as required by our partner universities.

In the first section of your studies in the Engineering and Management/ International Management, you will look at the basics in economics and engineering. This is followed by lectures with a focus on international management skills in technical fields of work. After an integrated internship semester (fifth semester), there are numerous options for electives. Thus, you can create your individual profile.

What our students say

I particularly liked the training concept of this program. Many technical and economics study contents are accompanied by laboratory sessions, tutorials or project work, which make the contents more or more understandable. Many at times we work together with students from higher semesters in teams to find solutions.
